Kibow Biotech announces that the focus on supporting and maintaining healthy kidney function with probiotics/prebiotics to potentially delay the progression to dialysis is based on its enteric toxin reduction platform technology termed "Enteric Dialysis®"
Medicare's largest effort to pay bonuses to hospitals that hit key performance measures - or dock them if they miss - did not lead to fewer deaths for heart attacks and heart bypass surgery, a new study finds. The analysis could lead to a reexamination of the idea of paying providers based on quality metrics, rather than on volume, which is key to the health law.
Little is known about the often fatal virus known as Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), but researchers have identified gaps in infection control as a major culprit in all eleven published cases involving healthcare-associated transmission of the virus.
When electrical waves in the heart run amok in a condition called arrhythmia, sudden death can occur. To save the life of a patient at risk, doctors currently implant a small defibrillator to sense the onset of arrhythmia and jolt the heart back to a normal rhythm.
On "Giving Tuesday," Dec. 2, Canadian Blood Services is encouraging Canadians to help build a national public cord blood bank by making a financial donation to the $12.5 million For All Canadians fundraising campaign.
