Metrohm expands the OMNIS Titration Platform enabling users to perform volumetric Karl Fischer titrations.
A study from Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center researchers - the first to examine the effects of combined radiation and chemotherapy on the healthy brain tissue of glioblastoma patients - reveals not only specific structural changes within patients' brains but also that the effect of cancer therapy on the normal brain appears to be progressive and continues even after radiation therapy has ceased.
An EPSRC Centre for revolutionising the way pharmaceuticals and other chemicals are made is being officially launched today.
At a meeting in Montreal, Canada, on Monday, international donors noted concerns, but agreed to a 10-year reconstruction plan to rebuild Haiti, the New York Times reports. "Given Haiti's long history of mismanagement of funds, international donors were hesitant to write a blank check. And foreign governments had concerns as well about the government's ability to direct a large reconstruction project after most government buildings were flattened or severely damaged in the Jan. 12 quake," the newspaper writes (Lacey/Thompson, 1/25).
Researchers at A*STAR's Singapore Bioimaging Consortium have discovered that branched-chain amino acids in tumors can be targeted to prevent and treat cancer. Together with collaborators from the United States and National Cancer Centre Singapore, they found that some cancers potently suppress the catabolism (breakdown) of BCAAs.
