Cappella Medical Devices announces initiation of the multi-center Italian Sideguard® open label clinical study. The Principal Investigator (PI) of the study, Dr. Giuseppe Massimo Sangiorgi at the Policlinico di Modena - University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, in Modena, Italy stated, "The side branch ostium anatomy requires a unique technology solution to effectively manage and optimize treatment.
To help alleviate a local and nationwide shortage of teachers with expertise in reading, Regis College in Weston and MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston have created a new partnership in which graduates will receive a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in reading.
Among intermediate- to high-risk patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery, administration of the agent acadesine to regulate adenosine (a naturally occurring chemical that dilates blood flow and can improve coronary blood flow and perfusion) did not reduce all-cause death, nonfatal stroke, or need for mechanical support for ventricular dysfunction, for approximately a month after surgery, according to a study in the July 11 issue of JAMA.
A study of newly installed, hands-free faucets at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, all equipped with the latest electronic-eye sensors to automatically detect hands and dispense preset amounts of water, shows they were more likely to be contaminated with one of the most common and hazardous bacteria in hospitals compared to old-style fixtures with separate handles for hot and cold water.
