A research abstract that will be presented on Tuesday, June 9, at SLEEP 2009, the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, is the first demonstration of a specific neurochemical abnormality in adults with primary insomnia (PI), providing greater insight to the limited understanding of the condition's pathology.
AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that it has initiated patient enrollment in a multi-center Phase 2 exploratory biomarker study of tivozanib, its lead product candidate designed to optimally block the VEGF pathway by inhibiting all three VEGF receptors, in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC).

The study could help cut down on hospital-acquired infections, reduce hospital costs and improve patient satisfaction.
About 140 seventh- and eighth-graders attending Cedars-Sinai's Brainworks program March 23 will learn how hopping, skipping, jumping and other elements of a regular exercise routine may help improve brain health. An exercise station - a new feature of the 17-year-old program - will be one of nine areas where students will interact with Cedars-Sinai neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuroscientists and other health professionals.
