Exelixis reports interim data from XL184 phase 2 trial for recurrent glioblastoma at ASCO 2010

Exelixis, Inc. today reported promising interim data from an ongoing phase 2 trial of XL184 in patients with recurrent glioblastoma (GB), the most common and aggressive form of brain cancer. Dr. Patrick Wen from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA will present the data in an Oral Session (Abstract #2006) on Saturday, June 5 at 5:00 p.m. at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in Chicago.

Lockheed Martin awarded contracts to accelerate advancement of Nationwide Health Information Network

Lockheed Martin will take steps to accelerate the advancement of digital health records and secure health information exchanges with two new agreements to support the Nationwide Health Information Network. The contracts, which were awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), total $9 million over two years.

Majority of North Carolinians support increasing sales tax on cigarettes

Statewide polls since 2004 have shown a majority of North Carolinians support increasing the sales tax on cigarettes as a means of generating state revenue, especially when the funds are used to support public health programs and to decrease teen smoking rates.

State licensure is required in each state in which a PT practices.
