Community-driven approaches needed for reducing cancer-death disparities

Cancer death rates for African-Americans far exceed non-Hispanic Caucasians in the United States, and only community-driven approaches to reducing health disparities will lessen the gap, says Edward Partridge, M.D., president-elect of the American Cancer Society (ACS) National Board of Directors and director of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Positive clinical trial results for Anacor Pharmaceuticals' AN2728 announced

Anacor Pharmaceuticals today announced positive clinical trial results for its lead phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitor, AN2728, a novel topical anti-inflammatory compound derived from Anacor's boron chemistry platform. These results were obtained from a multi-center, Phase 2b, randomized, double-blind, dose-ranging, bilateral trial comparing AN2728 ointment, 0.5% and 2.0%, applied once or twice daily, to vehicle in 145 patients with mild-to-moderate plaque-type psoriasis.

State licensure is required in each state in which a PT practices.
