DoD awards Regenicin and Lonza $18 million to develop PermaDerm for severe burns

The U.S. Department of Defense recently awarded more than $18 million in funding to a unit of Lonza Group, Ltd. for the development and commercialization of the therapeutic candidate, PermaDermâ„¢ for the treatment of severe burns among U.S. troops and civilians. The funding was announced at a conference celebrating advancements in regenerative medicine on November 9th in Walkersville, MD.

Study results from US Military Malaria Vaccine Program announced

Bioject Medical Technologies Inc., a leading developer of needle-free injection therapy systems, today announced that the US Military Malaria Vaccine Program presented results of its study using the Biojector2000 with a recombinant DNA vaccine at two recent conferences. A Cooperative Research and Development Agreement was signed with the Navy in April 2009 to work together on the study.

Mission Health System to implement RIVA

Mission Health System in Asheville, North Carolina has ordered a RIVA System (Robotic Intravenous Automation) - a self-contained unit for filling IV syringes and bags - from Intelligent Hospital Systems (IH Systems). The Mission Health System, which includes the Memorial and St. Joseph's campuses, will be using the RIVA System on their off-site pharmacy for both centers.

Sildenafil boosts high altitude exercise up to 45% for some cyclists

Sildenafil (Viagra) significantly improved the cardiovascular and exercise performance measures of trained cyclists at high altitude, mostly because the drug helped some participants improve a lot - up to 45% - while others showed little change. Sildenafil provided no benefit at sea level.

State licensure is required in each state in which a PT practices.
