Blogs address IHME report on global health funding

"Last week, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) released 'Financing for Global Health: The End of the Golden Era?,' its fourth annual report analyzing trends in Development Assistance for Health (DAH) from 1990 through 2009, with estimates through 2011," the Maternal Health Task Force blog reports, noting, "One of the areas where there has been an increase in spending is the overall area of maternal, newborn and child health, including family planning." New survey concludes health care reform debate as a cause of stress and annoyance among Americans

A new survey released today from Misericordia University and Braun Research finds that two in five Americans plan to spend less this holiday season as a result of rising health care costs. The survey also concluded that the health care reform debate is a cause of stress and annoyance among the majority of Americans and three in ten say health care costs have led to arguments and tension with friends and family members.

Ariz. governor signs bill banning public funding of Planned Parenthood; Appeals court bar Texas from cutting the group from the Women's Health Program

Supporters of the Arizona bill said the law was needed to keep money from indirectly funding abortions. In the Texas case, the panel of federal appeals judges said Texas must continue funding Planned Parenthood until a lower court decides the case.

PTs examine each individual and develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. PTs: 1.Diagnose and manage movement dysfunction and enhance physical and functional abilities. 2.Restore, maintain, and promote not only optimal physical function but optimal wellness and fitness and optimal quality of life as it relates to movement and health. 3.Prevent the onset, symptoms, and progression of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities that may result from diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries. 4.Treat conditions of the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and/or integumentary systems. 5.Address the negative effects attributable to unique personal and environmental factors as they relate to human performance. 6.PTs provide care for people in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, schools, sports and fitness facilities, work settings, and nursing homes. State licensure is required in each state in which a PT practices.
