NJIT engineer explains the theory behind spontaneous dispersion of particles on liquid surfaces

First 5 LA awards Valley Presbyterian Hospital $500,000 to improve breastfeeding rates

First 5 LA announced today that it is awarding a grant of nearly $500,000 to Valley Presbyterian Hospital to improve the nutrition and health of the hospital's youngest patients by developing and maintaining policies and procedures to encourage increased breastfeeding among mothers of newborns.

Alleged child trafficking: SOS Children's Villages offers care and protection for 33 Haitian children

SOS Children's Villages, a global organization dedicated to the long-term care and prevention of orphaned and abandoned children, are currently caring for the 33 children who are alleged victims of child trafficking. The Haitian Social Ministry entrusted SOS with the children – who range from three months to 12 years - after Haitian police arrested 10 U.S. citizens attempting to take the children from Haiti to the Dominican Republic on January 29 in a suspected illicit adoption scheme. The suspects did not have official papers confirming the identities of the children, nor did they have official permission to bring the children out of the country.

Four new Research Units established by the German Research Foundation

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) establishes four new Research Units. This decision has just been made by the Senate of the DFG at its meeting in Bonn in April. In Research Units, outstanding researchers work together on a current research topic, often at different locations and across disciplines.
