Low birth weight linked to heart disease

According to new research from Britain, being small at birth along with an excessive weight gain during adolescence and young adulthood are indicators for future heart disease risk.

Iron supplements reduce risk of iron deficiency and anemia in children with marginally low birth weights

Giving iron supplements to children with marginally low birth weights (2000-2500 grams) dramatically reduces the risk of developing iron deficiency and anemia. This is shown by Umeå researcher Magnus Domellöf and associates in the coming edition of the pediatric scientific journal Pediatrics.

COBC praises Court's decision over safe disposal of contact lens

The College of Opticians of British Columbia (COBC) today welcomed the decision of the Court of Appeal on The College of Opticians of British Columbia v. Coastal Contacts Inc. and Clearly Contacts Ltd., which found that contact lenses should not be treated as 'over the counter' products and that a prescription is required in order to dispense contact lenses.
