Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Abbott today reported data from a phase 3 clinical efficacy trial in 124 Japanese chronic idiopathic constipation patients as well as from a phase 3 long-term safety trial in an additional 209 Japanese CIC patients.
A new analysis indicates that radiocontrast, which is commonly used during selected imaging tests may be less hazardous than previously thought. The findings, which appear in an upcoming issue of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, suggest that imaging studies that might help save or improve lives are being unnecessarily withheld from patients owing to exaggerated fears.
Modafinilis used to treat conditions such as narcolepsy. Reports have associated the drug with an increased risk of malformation in babies born to mothers who had taken it while pregnant.
Brivaracetam (trade name: Briviact) has been approved since January 2016 as add-on therapy for adolescents from the age of 16 years and adults with epileptic seizures. The German Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care now examined in an early benefit assessment whether this drug offers an added benefit for patients in comparison with the appropriate comparator therapy.
