Without sweat, we would overheat and die. In a recent paper in the journal PLOS ONE, USC faculty member Krzysztof Kobielak and a team of researchers explored the ultimate origin of this sticky, stinky but vital substance - sweat gland stem cells.
Kobe University and Alfresa Pharma Corporation develop a novel medical device with non-woven fabric style made of bioabsorbable material.
Palomar Medical Technologies, Inc., a leading researcher and developer of light-based systems for cosmetic treatments, today announced financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2010. Revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2010 were $16.0 million, which represents a 9 percent increase over the $14.6 million reported in the first quarter of 2009. Product and service revenues increased to $13.1 million, a 14 percent increase over the $11.5 million in the first quarter of 2009.
Symptoms such as insomnia and emotional distress account for much of the work impact of mental health problems such as depression and anxiety, reports a study in the February issue of Medical Care.
Researchers have identified another reason to limit red meat consumption: high levels of a gut-generated chemical called trimethylamine N-oxide, that also is linked to heart disease.
