Scientists have moved a step closer to being able to preserve fertility in young boys who undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatments for cancer. The new research, published in Fertility and Sterility, the journal of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, addresses the safety of an option scientists are developing for boys who aren't sexually mature and cannot bank sperm.
Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center is the first hospital in Arizona to perform a new nonsurgical heart valve replacement procedure, the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR). TAVR valves are inserted via a catheter through the femoral artery, without requiring open heart surgery.
As state agencies navigate unprecedented economic challenges, Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (NYSE: ACS) is working to help state Medicaid programs maximize federal stimulus dollars and to prepare for the economic rebound.
In his latest Kaiser Health News column, James Capretta writes: "Now that the year-long debate in Congress over health care legislation has come to a close, it's reasonable to ask: What's next?"
In March, New Hampshire preschool teacher Gail O'Brien, who was unable to obtain health insurance through her employer, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lymphoma.
