Finding ways to rejuvenate "immunological age" of the brain

How the brain ages is still largely an open question - in part because this organ is mostly insulated from direct contact with other systems in the body, including the blood and immune systems. In research that was recently published in Science, Weizmann Institute researchers Prof. Michal Schwartz of the Neurobiology Department and Dr. Ido Amit of Immunology Department found evidence of a unique "signature" that may be the "missing link" between cognitive decline and aging.

Combination treatement for IVF patients may eliminate vaginal bleeding

A prospective, multi-center study demonstrated that in IVF (in vitro fertilization) cycles supplemented with once-daily dosing of Crinone® vaginal progesterone gel and Estrace® oral estrogen, vaginal bleeding is rare in patients who become pregnant. Bleeding does occur in approximately one-quarter of patients who do not become pregnant. These data were presented at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) annual meeting in Atlanta.

Exercise partially alleviates depression in heart failure patients

Structured exercise achieves modest reductions in depressive symptoms relative to usual care among patients with heart failure the results of a randomized-controlled trial show.
