DNA over-replication is a phenomenon that can have devastating consequences for proliferating cells. When parts of the genome are duplicated more than once, cells suffer from 'genomic instability' (alterations to the structure, composition and/or number of chromosomes), and this process gives rise to aberrant cells as those detected in many carcinomas.
Low blood levels of immune cells called lymphocytes, in combination with higher levels of inflammation on PET/CT scans, are indicators of active sarcoidosis - an inflammatory disease that attacks multiple organs, particularly the lungs and lymph nodes - which disproportionately affects African Americans.
Twenty-three non-commissioned officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps have been given the opportunity to follow their dreams of becoming physicians thanks to the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences' (USU) Enlisted to Medical Degree Preparatory Program, or EMDP2.
DSM Pharmaceutical Products, the custom manufacturing business of Royal DSM N.V., and Agennix AG have signed a new contract under which DSM will continue to manufacture talactoferrin for Agennix at commercial levels.
