GeneGo, Inc., the leading systems biology tools company, announced today that Millipore Corporation has sponsored academic groups from University of Queensland, Sheffield and USC to become members of the collaborative MetaMiner (Stem Cells) project run by GeneGo. MetaMiner is a partnership program for the reconstruction of stem cell pathways and their application in analysis of experimental data as well as knowledge mining.
Aprima Medical Software, a leading developer of electronic health record (EHR), practice management (PM) and revenue cycle management solutions for medical practices, today announced the release of Aprima's Learning Management System (LMS), a series of computer-based educational modules that allows customers to become proficient with its software.
Mares that are fed a diet that includes or is solely comprised of concentrates during gestation are significantly more likely to produce foals that develop permanent osteochondrosis lesions compared with mares who are fed a diet of roughage alone, report researchers.
Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine found that norepinephrine (adrenaline) plays an important role in animals in determining behavioral effects in some of the most commonly prescribed antidepressants, regardless of which biochemical pathway the drug uses to alleviate symptoms of depression.
Using a 2 ml blood sample from 100 gastric cancer patients, researchers succeeded in identifying cancer cells circulating in the bloodstream and trace them back to their origin tumor by detecting an overexpression of fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR2) in both the cancer cells and the tumor.
