Approximately 12,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year in the United States and another 4,000 die annually from the disease. A pivotal international phase 2/3 clinical trial involving Moffitt Cancer Center faculty demonstrated that vaccination with Gardasil 9 protects against nine HPV types, seven of which cause most cases of cervical, vulvar, and vaginal disease.
A new study shows that genetic mutations could be detected in one in 40 women diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 65 years. The study from Stanford researchers, titled "Prevalence of Pathogenic Variants in Cancer Susceptibility Genes Among Women With Postmenopausal Breast Cancer," was published as a research letter 10th March in the journal JAMA.
PDL BioPharma has announced that the Opposition Division of the European Patent Office decided at an oral proceeding to uphold claims in the company's European Patent No. 0 451 216 ('216 patent) that are virtually identical to the claims remitted to the Opposition Division by the Board of Appeal.
Individuals who drink diet soft drinks on a daily basis may be at increased risk of suffering vascular events such as stroke, heart attack, and vascular death.
