The confirmatory Phase 3 clinical trial is called DEFEND-2 (Durable-Response Therapy Evaluation For Early or New-Onset Type 1 Diabetes) and immediately follows successful completion of enrollment in the initial Phase 3 clinical trial, DEFEND-1, with results from DEFEND-1 expected in the first half of 2011.
A team of scientists from the UNC School of Medicine and North Carolina State University has developed promising research towards a possible stem cell treatment for several lung conditions, such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cystic fibrosis - often-fatal conditions that affect tens of millions of Americans.
In a study of 15 patients affected by major depressive disorder and complaining of insomnia, initiating treatment with vortioxetine for their depressive symptoms led to significant improvements in subjective sleep quality and daytime sleepiness.
