Northwestern Medicine scientists have discovered a new pathway in the brain that can be manipulated to alleviate depression. The pathway offers a promising new target for developing a drug that could be effective in individuals for whom other antidepressants have failed.
Research published today in the New England Journal of Medicine by scientists at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (LICR) and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) showed that combining targeted radiation therapy with immunotherapy (ipilimumab), fostered a strong immune response and a favorable clinical outcome in a patient with melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
Harco Metal Products (Harco), an industry leader in tube fabrication, systems integration, and seamless, cost effective manufacturing, announced today the contract to manufacture MediGLIDER™ products for ConMediSys.
The Alzheimer's Association recognized four leading scientists for their extraordinary contributions to Alzheimer's disease research at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC 2012) in Vancouver, Canada.
German and Canadian neuroscientists have shown that living in a city or even being raised in one is associated with differences in the way the brain handles stress. They write in Nature that this is the first time researchers have used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to identify specific brain regions that are affected by urban life.
