A study published in the March 2011 Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine shows that Massachusetts' new court-ordered mental health screening and intervention program led to more children being identified as behaviorally and emotionally at risk. The program is called the Children's Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI).
NHS figures reveal that over the last ten years, the number of prescriptions for antidepressants has doubled. There has also been a rise in the drugs prescribed for conditions resulting from unhealthy lifestyle behaviours.
Some Illinois nursing homes create dangerous and unsafe environments by mixing seniors and younger mentally ill residents, the Chicago Tribune reports: "More than any other state, Illinois relies heavily on nursing homes to house mentally ill patients, including those who have committed crimes. But a Tribune investigation found that government, law enforcement and the industry have failed to adequately manage the resulting influx of younger residents who shuttle into nursing facilities from jail cells, shelters and psychiatric wards."
Ethicon, Inc., a worldwide leader in surgical care, announced today that the company has submitted a Biologic License Application (BLA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the Fibrin Pad, a novel product candidate that combines Ethicon's biomaterials and plasma-derived biologics (Human Fibrinogen and Human Thrombin), to aid in stopping soft tissue bleeding during surgery.
The use of sexual aids and devices is often a sensitive and embarrassing topic for women, but a new landmark study on sexual aid usage conducted by the Berman Center and funded by an unrestricted educational grant from the Sexual Well-being store may help change women's acceptance of sexual aids
