The beneficial effects of subthalamic nucleus stimulation in patients with Parkinson's disease are partly down to compensatory activation of nonmotor dopamine pathways during exercise, research suggests.
By reviewing published literature on viral loads and viral shedding, researchers found that viral loads for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)peak before symptoms are seen. This has substantial implications for prevention strategies.
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced The 2013 AEIRS/Elsevier Innovator of the Year Award recipients. Mahsa Dehghanpour, EDd, MS, CMD, Program Director and Assistant Professor, and Jamie Baker, MEd, CMD, Instructor and Education Coordinator, both of the Medical Dosimetry Program at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center School of Health Professions (SHP), have been recognized for their outstanding work as educators in imaging sciences.
Two research studies, co-led by UC Davis neurologist Charles DeCarli and conducted by an international team that included more than 80 scientists at 71 institutions in eight countries, has advanced understanding of the genetic components of Alzheimer's disease and of brain development. Both studies appear in the April 15 edition of the journal Nature Genetics.
The review found no significant difference in patients' acceptance of each technique, "implying patients' preference for complete long-term cure of symptoms" despite the pain and higher risk of complications following surgery.
