Eribis Pharmaceuticals AB - part of the Karolinska Development portfolio - announced today that it has received follow-on financial investment enabling the company to continue its clinical development program. Based on cardio-protective effects, Eribis' candidate drug has the potential to become an important new therapy for treating acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and reperfusion injury (damage to tissue caused when blood supply returns after a period of ischemia), as well as for surgical preconditioning. The new round of investment from Karolinska Development AB will allow Eribis to strengthen the preclinical material.
A natural compound found in grape seed extract could be used to strengthen dentin - the tissue beneath a tooth's enamel - and increase the life of resin fillings, according to new research at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry.
The United States Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") is cracking down on the importation of unapproved new drugs with regards to personal use. Import Alert #66-41, "Detention Without Physical Examination of Unapproved New Drugs Promoted In The U.S." ("IA 66-41") was most recently published on September 23, 2010. IA 66-41 contains a Red List, a list of importers whose products are automatically detained for FDA violations, of over 400 firms on the charge of importing misbranded unapproved new drugs. Benjamin England, founder of FDAImports.com, LLC and former FDA Compliance Officer, attorney, and Food and Drug Law expert states that "This Import Alert has been expanded to include importers and products of drugs imported strictly for personal use rather than just targeting foreign shippers, which is FDA's normal M.O."
A new Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) study finds that the proportion of high school students identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or questioning (LGBQ) doubled from 2009 to 2017, while the LGBQ teen rate of attempted suicide went from five times the rate for their straight peers to nearly four times the rate.
