62% of newly graduated nurses will have trouble finding jobs in the next year, according to a survey conducted by Nursing Degree.org, a leading nursing education and career portal. The study surveyed Registered Nurses who had graduated in the last two years. Most of the students surveyed indicated that they had trouble finding a full time job in their field, or were not working in the field of nursing at all, despite their qualifications.
A new economic analysis, conducted by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and featured in the current issue of Springer's journal AIDS and Behavior, showed that the DC Female Condom program, a public-private partnership to provide and promote female condoms, prevented enough HIV infections in the first year alone to save over $8 million in future medical care costs.
A team of researchers, led by a UC Davis veterinary endocrinologist, has shown for the first time that a surgical procedure in rats that is similar to bariatric surgery in humans can delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.
California Healthcare Institute today submitted formal comments to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding the Center for Devices and Radiological Health 510(k) Working Group Preliminary Report and Recommendations, which could transform the 510(k) regulatory process for new medical devices, greatly affecting innovation and public health in California.
