In experiments published June 10 in Neuron, scientists at Rockefeller University reveal that amyloid-β, which builds up around brain cells in Alzheimer's patients, interacts with a common blood clotting agent to increase clotting in the arteries that feed the brain.
Calistoga Pharmaceuticals, Inc., the leader in the development of isoform-selective phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI3K) inhibitors for the treatment of cancer and inflammatory diseases, today announced the initiation of a Phase 1 trial of CAL-101, the Company's oral, PI3K delta inhibitor, in combination with standard of care agents Rituxan® (rituximab) and/or Treanda® (bendamustine) in patients with relapsed or refractory indolent non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
With unemployment rates remaining at an all-time high, one in five Americans chose not to seek medical care for a recent illness or injury, with four out of 10 citing cost as the primary factor, according to a Deloitte Center for Health Solutions survey of more than 4,000 adults in the United States.
