An excess of one type of serotonin receptor in the center of the brain may explain why antidepressants fail to relieve symptoms of depression for 50 percent of patients, a new study from researchers at Columbia University Medical Center shows.
Mobile Aspects announced today the commercial availability of an enhanced design of its RFID enabled endoscope tracking system, iRIScope. Targeted at increasing care quality and patient safety, iRIScope 2.0 offers additional functional and technical capabilities to help care providers enhance their processes for endoscope storage, use and reprocessing.
Roper Industries, Inc. announced today that it has priced a registered public offering of 2,300,000 shares of its common stock at $53.15 per share. The net proceeds of the offering are expected to be approximately $121 million after underwriting discounts and commissions and estimated offering expenses.

Johns Hopkins researchers have developed the basis of an inexpensive, simple urine test that identifies impending kidney failure or rejection following transplant surgery. Their work, presented this week in a special invited lecture to the American Transplant Congress in Boston, Mass., is based on proteins found in urine, and could lead to a urine test kit that may allow many patients to skip painful biopsies.
