Hundreds of identified genes involved in the pathophysiology of ulcerative colitis and Crohn disease

In a paper published in PLoS Medicine researchers from the German Genome Research Network have analysed the expression of thousands of genes from patients with inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn disease) using a genome wide approach to produce a comprehensive picture of which genes are activated in these conditions.

AACR to honor UNC scientist with $181,000 grant for breast cancer research

The American Association for Cancer Research announced today that Carey Anders, MD, assistant professor of medicine and a member of UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center will receive a Breast Cancer Research Foundation-AACR Grant for Translational Breast Cancer Research. The $181,000 grant will be presented at the organization's 102nd Annual Meeting, to be held in Orlando, Florida, April 2-6.

Acerde and a China-based medical imaging giant ink development contract

Acerde, an innovative company specializing in the development of rotating anodes for X-ray tubes used in the medical imaging industry, today announced (i) the signature of a development contract with a major China-based player in medical imaging, (ii) its achievement of a number of industrial development milestones and (iii) the preparation of the company's next generation of highly innovative rotating anodes (which are now composite-based rather than graphite-based).
