New research using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) shows that childhood stress such as abuse or emotional neglect, in particular when combined with genetic factors, can result in structural brain changes, rendering these people more vulnerable to developing depression. The study led by scientists at Trinity College Dublin has just been published in the international scientific journal, Neuropsychopharmacology.
One of the UK's largest investments in training for engineering and the physical sciences was announced today by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) as it opened a call for applications to support the next group of Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs), to which it is committing £492 million - subject to budget confirmation.
A new review article published in the journal Drug and Alcohol Review assesses the extent to which alcohol plays a causal role in sexual assault perpetration.
