Cancer patients don't have time to waste. Many go through several different treatments, however, to find one that is more effective against their particular type of tumor.
For the first time ever, researchers have discovered a therapy that can effectively treat the now invariably lethal, terminal stages of cancer in animals. The study appears in the latest issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Fortunately, our cells contain many enzymes devoted strictly to detecting and repairing any damage caused by these insults. In fact, failure of these enzymes to make needed repairs to genes can lead to the accumulation of mutations and, eventually, cell death or possibly cancer.
Indian and American researchers collaborated to study the trends of transmission of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in two Indian states – Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Their study titled, "Epidemiology and transmission dynamics of COVID-19 in two Indian states," was published in the latest issue of the journal Science last week.
Health experts cited frequent handwashing as a key way to prevent the spread of infection as COVID-19 took hold. But a global report has found that three in ten people were unable to do this in their homes.
