Allergan, Inc. ("Allergan" or the "Company") today became aware of public filings made by Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. ("Valeant") and Pershing Square Capital Management, L.P. Researchers from the brain cognition and plasticity group of the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute and the Neuroscience Institute of the University of Barcelona have led an innovative study that identifies modifications in the connectivity of cerebral white matter associated with the heterogeneous nature of apathy in Huntington's disease, making it possible to use this syndrome as a biomarker of disease progression.
Researchers in the United States and Canada have developed a combination of predictive statistical models that could help guide decisions about which animal species should be prioritized for detecting the origin of novel potential zoonotic viruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
A top federal health IT official said there is a workforce shortage in the sector that could hinder the widespread adoption of electronic medical records, but federal aide is on the way, for that, too. David Blumenthal, the national health IT coordinator, said federal training programs would meet 85 percent of the demand, which he estimated as a shortage of about 50,000 workers.
The causes of brain tumours have been hard to discern in most cases. But Umeå researchers have previously identified an inherited predisposition for brain tumours, and now, in an international collaboration, they have also discovered a genetic variation that increases the risk of a certain type of brain tumour, called meningiomas.
