A solution to help healthcare practitioners and limited English proficient (LEP) speaking patients focus directly on quality healthcare rather than an inability to communicate with each other is now at hand. A new organization is now working to assure competency in language interactions in healthcare settings - the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI).
In California's Bay Area, third-quarter venture capital investment in health care-related companies totaled $421.5 million, down 35 percent from $650.6 million in the same period a year earlier, according to research firm VentureSource.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration yesterday approved the first magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device that can be specifically used in neonates or newborn babies. These MRI devices would be used for imaging of the brains and head in neonates who are admitted to the neonatal intensive care units (NICU) where they are necessary.
After we sense a threat, our brain center responsible for responding goes into gear, setting off a chain of biochemical reactions leading to the release of cortisol from the adrenal glands.
