With more than 1.7 million people sustaining a traumatic brain injury each year, the need to identify processes to limit inflammation and subsequent damage is critical. Approximately 275,000 people are hospitalized annually with traumatic brain injury, leaving 85,000 with long-term disabilities and taking the lives of more than 50,000. More than 5 million people live with disabilities caused by traumatic brain injuries, often the result of car accidents and falls. Direct and indirect costs exceed $75 billion.
In a city where barely 20 % of impoverished women breastfeed, changing attitudes toward breastfeeding has become a matter of course for students from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Since 1995, Nursing 361 has required students to take part in a community advocacy program of their own design.
Shady Grove Fertility Center is pleased to announce the birth of Collin James Sharp, born December 8, 2010 to Jennifer and David Sharp of Richmond, VA. The 7 lb. 15 oz baby boy's birth was made possible through a partnership of Shady Grove Fertility and the Cade Foundation.
A comprehensive review of research focusing on the debate between High Fructose Corn Syrup and other sweeteners presented today finds there is no evidence of any significant variation in the way the human body metabolizes HFCS as opposed to standard table sugar, or any difference in impact on risk factors for chronic disease.
