DHEA supplements are widely-available and touted as a preventive agent for many chronic diseases. A new study published in Journal of the American Geriatrics Society finds no evidence of a beneficial effect of DHEA supplements on cognitive function in healthy older adults. The researchers believe that based on their study, DHEA supplements should not be recommended for enhancement of cognitive function or well-being in the general population.

However, breathing issues in obese people may be reversed and relieved, thanks to weight loss surgery.
Intrinsic Bioprobes Inc. ("IBI") today announced the launch of its first mass spectrometry-based protein assays for in-vitro diagnostic testing. The assays for beta-2-microglobulin, cystatin C, and retinol binding protein are performed on IBI's MASSAY® platform at the CLIA-certified and College of American Pathology (CAP) accredited diagnostic laboratory of the Institute of Genomics Medicine, UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.
The study included four radiologists who interpreted 268 digital screening mammograms and 189 film-screening mammograms. "The average interpretation time for all of our readers was 240 seconds (4 minutes) for digital screening mammograms and 127 seconds (2 minutes, 7 seconds) for film-screen screening mammograms," said Tamara Miner Haygood, MD, lead author of the study.
"In a report about financing for development delivered [Thursday] at the G20 summit, Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, urged leaders to commit to increasing the pool of resources dedicated to development, or risk causing irreparable damage to the livelihoods of millions of the poorest people," a Gates Foundation press release states (11/3).
