Sage Bionetworks has been selected by the National Cancer Institute Integrative Cancer Biology Program to establish a new interdisciplinary research and training center.
Identifying the sun-protection practices and risk profiles of beachgoers may help determine those who would benefit from targeted interventions intended to reduce the risk of skin cancer, according to a study in the November issue of Archives of Dermatology.
AMRI today announced that it is repositioning itself to meet a continued shift in demand from customers for services in Asia and Europe. Overall for 2009 and 2010, the company anticipates investing in excess of $30 million on international facility and capability expansions and estimates its non-US workforce will increase by approximately 180 positions in order to meet known and anticipated customer demand.
Routine mammograms performed for breast cancer screening could serve another purpose as well: detecting calcifications in the blood vessels of patients with advanced kidney disease, according to a study appearing in an upcoming issue of the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.
Patients who underwent endoscopic testing prior to surgery for lung cancer had significantly better quality of life at the end of the staging process, with no significant difference in costs between the two strategies, according to data presented at the 14th World Conference on Lung Cancer in Amsterdam, hosted by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer.
