A new paper published in the British Mycological Society journal, Fungal Biology, published by Elsevier, shows that these sites make perfect habitats for extremotolerant fungi.

Urging U.N. to collect, report data on aging population affected by HIV

"Estimates suggest that by 2040, over nine million people with HIV will be 50 or older in sub-Saharan Africa, triple that of current data," The Body reports, noting, "Despite this, the 2012 UNAIDS report does not mention the aging of HIV," and "because it does not include data on those aged 50 or older, the report is inaccurate and misleading."

A squirt of insulin up the nose for prevention of Alzheimer's disease

Researchers have noted in a small pilot study that squirting insulin deep into the nose where it travels to the brain might hold early Alzheimer's disease at bay. At present there are no effective ways to prevent or delay the progress of Alzheimer's.
