Researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem have achieved, for the first time, the generation of neuronal cells from stem cells of Fragile X patients. The discovery paves the way for research that will examine restoration of normal gene expression in Fragile X patients.
One class of drug used to treat type 2 diabetes may not reduce the risk of death when compared with placebo, suggests new findings.
Scientists reported new evidence on the effectiveness of that old folk remedy cranberry juice for urinary tract infections at the ACS' 240th National Meeting. "A number of controlled clinical trials these are carefully designed and conducted scientific studies done in humans have concluded that cranberry juice really is effective for preventing urinary tract infections," said Terri Anne Camesano, Ph.D., who led the study.
Sarah Arnquist, who runs Global Health Hub, writes in Harvard University's Global Health Delivery Project blog about a Monday session at the American Public Health Association's annual conference that discussed "using online communities to promote health and engage communities - of either professionals or patients."
