Shire plc, the global specialty biopharmaceutical company, announced today that it will present key scientific data on its Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) treatments, INTUNIV- (guanfacine) Extended Release Tablets, Vyvanse- (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate) Capsules CII, and Daytrana- (methylphenidate transdermal system) CII, at a national meeting of psychiatrists to be held October 27 - November 1 in Honolulu.
Researchers of the University of Bern have identified a new antibiotic resistance gene in bacteria from dairy cows. This gene confers resistance to all beta-lactam antibiotics including the last generation of cephalosporins used against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
KIYATEC, Inc researchers demonstrated that their immune-modified ex vivo platform can measure treatment response through direct interaction between a patient's cancer and infiltrating immune cells, and immuno-oncology agents.
Italian researchers have discovered that antiviral treatment and sustained virologic response prevents esophageal varices in patients with compensated hepatitis C -induced cirrhosis, indicating that endoscopic surveillance can be safely delayed or avoided in these patients. Full findings are published in the June issue of Hepatology, a journal of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
BioInvent reached an important milestone when the results of a phase II trial of TB-402 following orthopaedic surgery, were reported in May. The data showed that TB-402 is statistically better at preventing thrombosis than enoxaparin, the current standard treatment. Supported by these good results, BioInvent and the company's partner, ThromboGenics, will now prioritise securing a development partner for the programme to ensure that the necessary resources is in place to take the product candidate to the market.
