Nile Therapeutics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company that develops novel therapeutics for heart failure patients, today announced its first quarter financial results for 2012.
Heart defects are the most common type of birth defect, and can be caused by mutations in the gene CHD4. Researchers at the UNC School of Medicine have now revealed key molecular details of how CHD4 mutations lead to heart defects.
Although the dangers of obesity have become increasingly clear in recent years, new research from the World Health Organization suggests that the number of people who are obese around the world will only increase. The most recent report analyzed all of the European nations and concluded that the percentage of obese citizens is set to rise in nearly every country.
In a study appearing in the September 13 issue of JAMA, Jouke T. Annema, M.D., Ph.D., of the Academic Medical Center, Amsterdam, and colleagues examined five-year survival after endosonography vs mediastinoscopy for mediastinal nodal staging of lung cancer.
