The antiepileptic drug ezogabine reduced pathologic excitability of cortical and spinal motor neuron cells that are early signs of clinical dysfunction in people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), according to a study conducted by the Neurological Clinical Research Institute of Massachusetts General Hospital.
Aduro BioTech, a clinical-stage immunotherapy company, is pleased to announce the presentation of the CRS-207 Phase 1 study at the AACR Special Conference on Tumor Immunology in Miami, Florida by the Principal Investigator, Dr. Dung Le of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. Dr. Le reported that CRS-207 intravenous administration was well tolerated in subjects with advanced, treatment-refractory cancers. Dr. Le also reported evidence of immune activation and that 6 out of 17 end-stage cancer patients lived 15 months or longer.
Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) announced today a new internet link with a renown lung cancer research center at the 5th Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University, in Zhuhai, China.
Through research in mice, the scientists discovered that an immune signaling molecule called type b transforming growth factor (TGFb) is responsible for a cascade of events that leads estrogen to prevent bone loss.
Spinal cord damage that causes paralysis and reduced mobility doesn't always stop with the initial trauma, but there are few treatment options to halt increased deterioration - and there is no cure.
