As the country begins a new year and continues to contemplate major issues like financial recovery and nationwide healthcare, a new study released today by Royal Philips Electronics ( PHG, AEX: PHI) shows that three-quarters of Americans feel generally positive about their overall health and well-being. But a closer look shows that despite Americans' claims and culture of stalwart optimism, there are some surprisingly large gaps between the reported sense of overall optimism and how satisfied consumers actually are about the factors that make up individual health and well-being.
A new analysis indicates that opioid pain medications may not be as safe for hemodialysis patients as recommendations suggest, and therefore, their use should be limited when possible. The analysis appears in an upcoming issue of the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men with an estimated 192,280 new cases diagnosed in the US in 2009 (Jemal 2009). Diet is considered one of the most important controllable risk factors for inflammation and prostate diseases including benign prostatic hyperplsia, prostatitis, and prostate cancer.
ArQule, Inc. today announced that the following presentations of clinical data for ARQ 197, a selective inhibitor of the c-Met receptor tyrosine kinase, will take place at the 2010 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, which will be held June 4-8, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois.
