Leading infectious diseases experts have released new guidance for healthcare facilities looking to establish precautions for visitors of patients with infectious diseases. The guidance looks to reduce the potential for healthcare visitors in spreading dangerous bacteria within the healthcare facility and community.
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says his office has reached settlements with eight health insurance companies that require them to ensure the accuracy of provider directories on their websites. The attorney general's office says the companies will remove names of doctors and other providers who no longer participate and correct listing errors for others.
Alarms that buzz, ring or light up when a child wets the bed are more effective at stopping bedwetting than medications like the drug commonly used to prevent urination, according to a new review of recent studies.
ARYx Therapeutics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, today announced that it has secured a committed equity financing facility under which it may sell up to $35 million of shares of its common stock to Commerce Court Small Cap Value Fund, Ltd. ("Commerce Court") over a 24 month period. The maximum number of shares that can be sold by ARYx is specified in the agreement. ARYx is not obligated to utilize any of the $35 million facility and remains free to enter into and consummate other equity and debt financing transactions.
The standard of care for acute concussion may undergo a dramatic change, depending on the results of a new exercise treatment that physicians at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo have developed and begun testing. It is the first randomized, controlled clinical trial of this exercise treatment for concussion.
