The mechanism by which some bacteria are able to survive antibacterial treatment has been revealed for the first time by Hebrew University of Jerusalem researchers. Their work could pave the way for new ways to control such bacteria.
Leica Microsystems, one of the world's leading designers and producers of microscopes and high-tech precision optical systems, will host a pre-registration event at 4pm at Cobden Room 3 on 01 July 2014 at the MicroScience Microscopy Congress 2014 (30 June - 3 July 2014, Manchester, UK) to unveil the first LifeSight report into current and future trends in life science research.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is alerting consumers to possible serious health risks from eating olives that may be contaminated with a deadly bacterium, Clostridium botulinum . C. botulinum can cause botulism, a potentially fatal illness.
A new kind of knee surgery is providing much needed relief for patients in the greater Houston area. For many years, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions have been frequently performed to correct instability in the knee, however many patients never return to their pre-injury level of activity following surgery. That is changing, says orthopaedic surgeon Dr. William Hayes, because surgeons are now addressing injuries to the anterolateral ligament (ALL) in the knee as well.
