Opexa Therapeutics reports net loss of $1,433,922 for year ended December 31, 2009

Opexa Therapeutics, Inc., a company developing Tovaxin®, a novel T-cell therapy for multiple sclerosis (MS), today reported financial results for the year ended December 31, 2009 and provided an update on its progress.

Researchers assess familial risks for MS using population registers, health care registries

Generic Hyzaar and Cozaar litigation: Court of Appeals rules in favor of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. announced today that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit has ruled in Teva's favor by overturning a July 31, 2009, district court decision which held that Teva forfeited 180-day marketing exclusivity for its generic versions of Merck's antihypertensive agents Hyzaar® (hydrochlorothiazide; losartan potassium) and Cozaar® (losartan potassium).

New understanding on meningitis cause

A specific protein on the surface of a common bacterial pathogen allows the bacteria to leave the bloodstream and enter the brain, initiating the deadly infection known as meningitis. The new finding, which may guide development of improved vaccines to protect those most vulnerable, including young infants and the elderly, is now available online in the Journal of Experimental Medicine.
