Leading pediatric health system to examine causes of divergence and variability

The Department of Defense has awarded Nemours a $3.9 million grant to evaluate how physicians use best practice guidelines and to consider strategies to maintain clinical skills and consistency of care. The study, which will examine care provided throughout Nemours' pediatric health system, could help the military reintegrate physicians after deployment and better understand how their time away from routine practice affects their clinical knowledge and skill.

American Cancer Society report released on World Cancer Day

A new American Cancer Society report says cancers associated with lifestyles and behaviors related to economic development, including lung, breast, and colorectal cancers, will continue to rise in developing countries if preventive measures are not widely applied. The finding comes from the second edition of Global Cancer Facts & Figures and its academic publication, Global Cancer Statistics, published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians.

Pfizer to present PF-299 and crizotinib clinical trial data on ALK at WCLC 2011

Pfizer Inc. will present early and mid-stage data from its lung cancer portfolio, including PF-00299804 an investigational, oral, pan-HER inhibitor; and crizotinib, an investigational, oral, first-in-class compound that inhibits the anaplastic lymphoma kinase, or ALK, at the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer's 14th World Conference on Lung Cancer, July 3-7 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
