Matrixx, H.I.G. announce grant of early termination of waiting period under HSR Act

Matrixx Initiatives, Inc. and H.I.G. Capital, LLC ("H.I.G."), a leading global private investment firm, today announced that the Federal Trade Commission has granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended (the "HSR Act"), relating to the previously announced acquisition of all outstanding shares of common stock of the Company by affiliates of H.I.G. Accordingly, the condition with respect to the expiration of the applicable waiting periods under the HSR Act has been satisfied.

Hearing loss linked with increased risk for premature death

A new study links hearing loss with an increased risk for mortality before the age of 75 due to cardiovascular disease. Researchers at the Robert N. Butler Columbia Aging Center at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health found that mortality among those with hearing loss is elevated, particularly among men and women younger than age 75 and those who are divorced or separated.
