New UCLA study reveals genetic architecture of schizophrenia

A new study by UCLA scientists adds to the understanding of the genetic architecture of schizophrenia. Past research has shown the impact of commonly occurring genetic variants on a person's risk of developing schizophrenia. This new study focused instead on rare coding mutations that affect protein function. It found that patients with schizophrenia have a higher-than-normal share of these mutations.

VTT examines effectiveness of beauty patch using unique imaging technology

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has analysed the effectiveness of its beauty patch, using a technique for imaging live tissue to demonstrate the patch's beneficial effects on the skin. Preliminary results show that already after two weeks usage the patch together with cosmetic serum adds collagen, which helps skin tissue to stay supple.

New therapeutic approaches against lymphoid tumors

Helmholtz Zentrum M-nchen has launched a new cooperative project with SIRION BIOTECH GmbH in Martinsried to develop new therapeutic approaches against lymphoid tumors.
