Normal synaptic activity in nerve cells protects brain from Huntington's disease

Investigators at Burnham Institute for Medical Research (Burnham), the University of British Columbia's Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics and the University of California, San Diego have found that normal synaptic activity in nerve cells (the electrical activity in the brain that allows nerve cells to communicate with one another) protects the brain from the misfolded proteins associated with Huntington's disease.

NeoStem prices public offering of 5M common stock shares at $1.35 per share

NeoStem, Inc., an international biopharmaceutical company with operations in the U.S. and China, announced today that it priced a public offering of 5,000,000 shares of its common stock at $1.35 per share. Net proceeds from the offering, after underwriting discounts and commissions and expenses, will be approximately $5,697,500. NeoStem has granted the underwriters an option to purchase up to an additional 750,000 shares to cover over-allotments, if any.
