I COUGH program reduces likelihood of respiratory complications in surgical patients

Respiratory complications—including pneumonia and ventilator dependency—are among the most common complications that occur after operations. But a simple and inexpensive postoperative pulmonary care program known as "I COUGH" reduces the likelihood of those life-threatening and costly complications, researchers from Boston University Medical Center reported today at the 2012 American College of Surgeons (ACS) Annual Clinical Congress.

Kewaunee Scientific awarded $13 million contract for New Shell Technology Centre in Bangalore, India

Kewaunee Scientific Corporation today announced that it had been awarded a turnkey contract of approximately $13 million for the prestigious New Shell Technology Centre in Bangalore, India. Under the contract, Kewaunee Scientific will provide all laboratory casework, fume hoods, high purity gas systems, vacuum systems, exhaust systems, scrubbers, VAV systems and other furnishings on a turnkey basis necessary to complete the research laboratories.

Smoking, weight and skin cancer are associated with skin aging

Smoking, being heavier, not using sunscreen and having had skin cancer appear to be associated with sun damage and aging of skin on the face, according to report based on a study of twins in the December issue of Archives of Dermatology, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
