BiDil demonstrates significant improvement in survival rates in African American heart failure patients

Researchers determine critical role of bone marrow cells in fighting respiratory viruses

Researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine for the first time have determined that bone marrow cells play a critical role in fighting respiratory viruses, making the bone marrow a potential therapeutic target, especially in people with compromised immune systems. They have found that during infections of the respiratory tract, cells produced by the bone marrow are instructed by proteins to migrate to the lungs to help fight infection. The data are published in the current issue of Cell Host & Microbe.

Infinity announces Phase 2 clinical trial results of IPI-504 for NSCLC

Infinity Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today reported the results from its Phase 2 clinical trial of IPI-504, the company's i.v.-administered Hsp90 chaperone inhibitor, in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Data reported show that IPI-504 demonstrated clinical activity in patients with NSCLC, in particular among patients with oncogenic anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene rearrangements.
