MEDNAX acquires neonatal group practice in Covington, Louisiana

MEDNAX, Inc., today announced the acquisition of a neonatal group based in Covington, Louisiana, consisting of two physicians who provide neonatal intensive care and well-baby care at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. The hospital's Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) has annual patient volume in excess of 2,500 patient days.

Researchers show how gene mutations cause common forms of cartilage tumors

Duke Medicine researchers have shown how gene mutations may cause common forms of cartilage tumors. In a study published in the Feb. 16, 2015, issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Duke researchers and their colleagues revealed that mutations in the isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) gene contribute to the formation of benign tumors in cartilage that can be a precursor to malignancies.

RayStation chosen for new ultra-modern cancer center in Quebec

CRIC (Centre régional intégré de cancérologie) is an initiative to create a new ultra-modern cancer center in Levis, close to Quebec City. The facility will serve the Chaudière-Appalaches region. It will have the capacity to treat up to 1,700 patients per year, with the first treatments expected to take place in April 2019.
