Experts urge women to recognize warning signs of ovarian cancer, receive appropriate screenings

Experts at Northwestern Memorial say the best defense is to make use of preventive methods, understand the risks and recognize potential warning signs of ovarian cancer.

OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals to pay Isis Pharmaceuticals $10M for license of OGX-011 to Teva Pharmaceutical Industries

Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that it will receive a $10 million payment from OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as a result of OncoGenex' license of OGX-011 to Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. ( TEVA). OGX-011 is a second-generation antisense drug co-discovered by Isis and OncoGenex that has completed a successful Phase 2 program in patients with advanced prostate cancer and advanced non-small cell lung cancer.

Researchers examine the importance of time after COVID-19 vaccination

A new study has been published on the medRxiv* preprint server, which deals with the importance of time post-vaccination based on the quantification of VOC immune evasion. The current study developed a toy model to estimate the effectiveness of the vaccines against VOC over time. Researchers have shown that the estimated value is highly dependent on time post-vaccination. Additionally, this model can describe the implications of changes in vaccine efficacy against VOC.

Genes that regulate a cellular recycling system called autophagy are commonly mutated in Crohn's disease patients, though the link between biological housekeeping and inflammatory bowel disease remained a mystery. Now, researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center have uncovered an intriguing clue.
